Is your church keeping you from your partner?

Unless you are so committed to your particular Christian church denomination that you are willing to wait longer to find your ideal partner we would suggest that you start looking outside your church if you haven’t already started to do so. The wider Christian community is richly diverse and filled with millions of interesting Christian people. It is a healthy thing to meet new people who may not have come from the same tradition as yourself. The Christian church has become very fragmented over time and lacks the power of unity that it once had during times of revival in the past. As a single Christian you can, by visiting other churches and meeting with new people, help to erode some of the disunity that exists and help promote the true Kingdom of God.

Being sensitive to other Christians

When you begin to meet people from other churches or denominations remember that they will not always see things the way you do. Long-held beliefs that you accept may be alien to them or may even cause them offence. It is important to be humble in your conversations and genuinely interested in learning more about what makes their tradition different.

If you have met someone from another church tradition that is different to yours and are thinking that you want to pursue a relationship that may lead to something more take time to think about any issues that may become a problem. If, for example, you are and Anglican and you are considering dating a Catholic remember that though you may be open to accepting some of the Catholic traditions your partner may be happy with that but their relatives may not.

We believe that the walls of denominationalism need to fall down for God to have His perfect church and that by socialising and dating those from other church traditions you are helping with this process. The devil only wants the church to be divided and he wants single Christians to be lonely so by being more open and more social than ever before you are advancing the Kingdom of God.
